Department of Justice: Monday, March 22 at noon-1 pm
Idrys J. Abdullah of the District of Columbia Department of Insurance, Securities, and Banking, will speak on senior abuse, elder exploitation, scams, and apartment insurance.
Legal Counsel for the Elderly: Monday, April 26 at noon-1 pm
Attorney Leta M. (Shelly) Jackson: Probate and Estate Planning–Estate Planning – is “BECAUSE I SAID SO” planning.
Darnetta Bascomb, Legal Counsel for the Elderly Senior Medicare Patrol–How you can help prevent, detect, and report health care fraud and abuse.
Ashley Jones, Legal Associate, Legal Counsel for the Elderly’s Self Help Office–We all need help every now and then with even the smallest legal matters. Just because you can do it alone, doesn’t mean you have to.
Fire and EMS Fire Safety Unit and Public Affairs for Fire/EMS: Monday, May 24 at noon-1 pm
Will provide a presentation on what not to do to in order to prevent house and kitchen fires and hear from the Public Affairs Officer for Fire /EMS, Douglas Buchanan on new ways that have been implemented in regards to taking people to the hospital.
UDC CAUSES (College of Agriculture, Urban Sustainability and Environmental Sciences): Monday, June 28 at noon-1 pm
Herbert Holden from CAUSES will talk about nutrition, what foods you should; or should not eat. This discussion will be for about 35 minutes. The 2nd half of his presentation will be cooking a healthy meal. This program will be 75 minutes to accommodate the cooking lesson.
