Exploring Your Health and Wellness

An event every week that begins at 10:00 am on Friday, repeating until Friday, December 3, 2021
Come, explore wellness and health!
What gives you a sense of well-being? What brings you joy and peace? What makes you laugh? What invigorates you? What makes you feel well nourished?
Starting on October 1st, we will meet via Zoom every Friday from 10 to 11 AM, for a series of learning gatherings to explore ways to foster our health and wellness.
Goal: To develop personal plans to optimize our well-being. We will explore several aspects of wellness:
- Physical – nutrition and hydration, movement [or activity], and sleep
- Social and emotional
- Intellectual and creative
The group will meet over ten weeks to reflect and share strategies for thriving, particularly in the age of COVID. We will encourage each other in setting and achieving goals for ourselves.
We will work as a group to support each other in meeting our goals. We will explore questions like these:
- How do you best build new routines and habits?
- How can you motivate yourself to exercise?
- How can you develop better eating habits?
- Are you looking for more intellectual stimulation?
- Do you want to take up a new creative project?
Lauri Winter and Amy Schussheim will facilitate this program. In addition, group members will have the opportunity to lead discussions on wellness-related topics.
Lauri’s career has been in public health, mostly in developing countries. Lauri’s greatest reward in her work is to empower others to make changes, and to bring confidence to individuals and communities to make their own decisions and plans.
Amy is a retired Masters-level social worker with 25 years of experience taking care of Active Duty military and Veterans in the Washington, DC metro area. Amy’s joy is helping people learn to measure their success by their own yardstick, not someone else’s.
