Flamenco for Seniors with La Magdalena!

| FreeUnleash your passion and say ¡OLE! All abilities are welcome here, and no experience is required. Come experience the joy of Flamenco music and dance and learn about this art form’s rich cultural history!
Class will focus on basic arm & hand movements and rhythms and can be taken from the comfort of your chair. Magdalena will demonstrate some steps for your entertainment.
Express your inner dancer! Learn something new! Get some exercise, all in one hour. Lessons will be sprinkled with Magdalena’s anecdotes about her time living in Andalucía.
People with extremely limited mobility are welcome to come and just enjoy the music and discussion.
Bio:
Magdalena is known for her focus on the rhythm and musicality of Flamenco Dance. She expertly weaves extensive knowledge of the craft with her academic background in education and social work. Magdalena has been awarded grants from The Field and Fractured Atlas for her work as a performing and teaching artist. In both September of 2022 and 2023 she received the DC Arts & Humanities fellowship.
La Magdalena is an award-winning dancer, teacher, and choreographer trained in NYC and Seville, Spain. In 2013 she moved with her family from NYC to Washington D.C.. Inspired by her little dancing daughter she then created Flamenco 4 Kids!™ – a community based organization which serves over a dozen private and public schools in the area.
