In- Person Gentle Movement and Guided Meditation with Meg Artley at 11:00 am

Come settle your mud with like-minded people seeking serenity led by Meg Artley. Each class will begin with gentle and relaxed movement that you can do from a chair. After we get our bodies warm and relaxed, Meg will lead a guided meditation using techniques for stilling the mind that will include formal and informal mindfulness practices, breathing techniques, inspirational literature, sound, and hand gestures among other methods. The objective is to still the mind long enough to find clarity, peace and comfort — and to bring these gifts to your everyday life.
Meg Artley, E-RYT 500, has worked toward clarity and peace in her life through the practice of yoga, meditation, art-making and writing, a journey she has shared at www.lostandfoundyoga.com. After a career as a fundraiser, she received a certificate in yoga teaching from Tranquil Space in 2012 and has clocked over 1,000 hours of teaching yoga and teaching yoga teachers at several yoga studios in the Washington, DC area. Recently, Meg taught mindful art-making and Gentle Yoga for Around Town DC.
This class is an ongoing class and on-line registration is necessary for in-person classes. If you would like to be removed from the ongoing list please let us know. Once you have registered for this program you will remain on the list until the end of September. If you are not present in the room by the time the class is to begin your space may be given to someone else. Bathrooms and chairs are available; please bring your own water. No coffee will be served.
Our hosts, St. Alban’s Church, require masks be worn in the church when not drinking.
Our funders, the DC Department of Aging and Community Living, and the District of Columbia, are not requiring participants to be vaccinated to join our programs. Please be aware of proximity to others and do not join our in-person events if you are ill.
By registering for any in-person and on-line activities you waive any liability as follows–
In consideration of my voluntary participation in this Fitness/Wellness Class (“The Program”), I hereby agree to release, hold harmless, and indemnify Iona Senior Services, and its employees, agents, and representatives (collectively “Iona”) from any and all actions, claims, and demands, for myself, my heirs, and/or my personal representatives, now and forever, as a result of injury, damage, or loss of property arising out of my participation in the Program. This release shall include any claims, demands, injuries, damages, or actions arising out of or connected with my use of Iona’s services and facilities, both on and off Iona’s premises, and from all acts of ordinary negligence on the part of Iona.
I recognize that the Program may include travel by public or private transit, private touring companies, walking, and other moderate physical activity. By agreeing to participate in the Program, I assert that I have willingly and knowingly accepted the risks inherent in such travel and activities, including bodily injury and property damage. I also assert that I have no physical condition, ailment, or limitation that would prevent me from participating in the Program in a safe manner. Finally, I assert that I have accident/health insurance coverage that will apply in the event of injury as a result of my participation in the Program.
