SUMMARY:VIRTUAL Mindfulness & Meditation: Ancient Teachings in the Quest for Peace
DESCRIPTION:Your capacity to relax and be happy is real. But\, like a gardener\, you have to cultivate your mind to manage a stream of issues that naturally arise: physical accidents\, mental blocks\, past traumas\, cultural issues\, etc. When you don’t cultivate your mind\, it will not bear fruit. When you do\, your mind will provide you with increased equanimity in the midst of any storm. With the simple practice of mindfulness and meditation\, you will experience increasing periods of calm that will transform your physical\, emotional and spiritual health.  One breath is all that is required to start healing.  \nThis class is taught by both Kaili and Nadine. \nKaili Mang Jeyarajah completed her certificate in Mindfulness & Meditation Teaching with the Awareness Training Institute of the Greater Good Science Center of UC Berkeley. Her early training began in France in the Plum Village tradition of Zen master Thich Naht Hanh\, and it continues in the Theravadan and Zen traditions with Dassanaya Buddhist Community.  In addition to teaching meditation at IONA\, Kaili is a volunteer coordinator for Insight On the Inside\, where she facilitates weekly classes at the DC Jail\, and assists with fundraising and curriculum development.  At Dassanaya Buddhist Community in Alexandria\, VA\, Kaili serves as the Community Liaison and is a supporting teacher and assists in fundraising.  Prior to being certified as a meditation teacher\, she worked first as a corporate interior designer and later as a residential designer with a focus on sustainability.  She is married with two adult sons.  \nNadine Kaylor is a Certified Mindfulness Meditation Teacher and Mentor. She has been practicing mindfulness for over 15 years\, starting her journey as a yoga teacher and then attending annual retreats with Geneen Roth exploring the intersection of mindfulness and women’s issues around food\, weight and body image.  She completed her Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification in 2021 under the guidance of Tara Brach\, Jack Kornfield and Cynthia Wilcox\, among other teachers\, and completed the Mindfulness Mentor Training program (also with Tara Brach and Jack Kornfield) in 2025.  From 2023-2024\, she completed a year-long training in Guided Embodied Inquiry for Individuals with Cynthia Wilcox and Stan Eisenstein.  She is also a musician\, performing with Swarthmore College’s Gamelan Semara Santi for over 20 years. \nHow to Join This Virtual Class:\n\n1. Create an Account (if you don’t have one yet)\n2.
