DESCRIPTION:Program Description:  \nIn this course\, participants will explore a variety of mixed-media approaches to art! Mixed media can unlock a variety of textures\, styles\, and imaginative avenues. We will discuss the combination of materials that complement one another and how to achieve successful compositions through a range of media. We will learn from artists who have mixed-media practices\, as well as create compositions of our own. Students will have the opportunity to work from reference imagery as well more abstractly. Participants of all skill levels are invited to join this course. \nSupplies are Limited. She has exhibited across the East Coast at venues including the University of Mary Washington\, Adah Rose Gallery\, the Peale Museum\, and Chautauqua Institution. In 2023 she received the Bethesda Painting Young Artist Award\, and she was a 2025 Sondheim Art Prize semifinalist. She is currently an artist-in-residence at MoCA Arlington.

DESCRIPTION:Program Description:  \nIn this course\, participants will explore a variety of mixed-media approaches to art! Mixed media can unlock a variety of textures\, styles\, and imaginative avenues. We will discuss the combination of materials that complement one another and how to achieve successful compositions through a range of media. We will learn from artists who have mixed-media practices\, as well as create compositions of our own. Students will have the opportunity to work from reference imagery as well more abstractly. Participants of all skill levels are invited to join this course. \nSupplies are Limited. We encourage all Participants to purchase their own supplies. \nMaterials Needed: \n\nVariety of graphite artist pencils\nErasers \nGouache paints \nVariety of watercolor brushes \nPaper towels or rags\nCups for water\nWatercolor paper (9 x 12 or similar) \nDrawing paper (9 x 12 or similar)\nColored pencils\nPencil sharpener \nPastels (oil or soft/chalk) \nGlue sticks \nOptional: Acrylic paints\, acrylic brushes\, bristol paper\, watercolor paper\, or canvas paper \nOptional: Watercolor paints\, watercolor brushes\, watercolor paper\nOptional: Alternative glues\, such as mod podge or liquid glue \nOptional: Magazines \nStudents are welcome to bring in any supplies they would like to experiment with\, aside from toxic or disruptive substances (such as oil paints\, spray paints\, etc.)\n\nHow to Participate: \nTo participate in this class\, simply create an account on this website. Once your account is set up\, you can attend the class by showing up and printing your first and last name on the sign-in sheet. \nLindsay’s Bio: \nLindsay Mueller is an artist fascinated by the layered relationships humans have with outdoor spaces\, especially those shaped by American tendencies to romanticize nature. She typically creates paintings inspired by local fragments of landscape\, often incorporating sculptural elements in her process. Originally from Bucks County\, Pennsylvania\, she now lives and works in Arlington\, Virginia. Mueller holds a BFA in Painting and a BA in Psychology from Boston University and an MFA in Visual Arts from American University. She has exhibited across the East Coast at venues including the University of Mary Washington\, Adah Rose Gallery\, the Peale Museum\, and Chautauqua Institution. In 2023 she received the Bethesda Painting Young Artist Award\, and she was a 2025 Sondheim Art Prize semifinalist. She is currently an artist-in-residence at MoCA Arlington.
