SUMMARY:VIRTUAL Intermediate Yoga with Camille
DESCRIPTION:This mindful yoga class is designed for seniors at an intermediate level\, blending gentle movement with breath awareness and relaxation. Participants are encouraged to have a yoga mat or chair\, a strap or tie (or something similar)\, blocks if available\, and a blanket. If you don’t have these props\, no worries—improvise with what you have at home and join us anyway! Each session includes time for centering and breathing practice\, asana (posture) work\, and concludes with a calming savasana (final relaxation).  \nCamille Martone is a DC resident and certified as an adult (and kids) yoga instructor. She has been teaching yoga to kids and adults for many years. First\, as an activities assistant\, and later becoming a program manager. She began with the Sunrise Community and Iona Senior Services\, accumulating over 20 years of interactive programming experience.    \nA mother of two\, her interests are in history\, films\, photography\, poetry\, folk art\, and music. She has been a Humanities Award recipient and a presenter at the DC History Conference. After having lived in every quadrant of the city\, she participates in her local community association and has served as a two-term president.

Dominique is a Mixed Media Art Educator who has been devoted to the arts and painting since she was six years old. She began her artistic training at an early age under the close tutelage of her mother\, an avid painter\, seamstress\, and dance instructor. “Choreography was my first form of artistic expression\, and it is a joy to merge my movement of thought with the movement of my paintbrush\, paper and found objects to build texture to create something completely new.” She is owner of Zola Monroe Art Group\, LLC. ZMAG\,LLC which provides services to the community. Dominique has developed art programs for incarcerated youth\, adults with acquired brain injuries\, people with developmental disabilities\, seniors with Alzheimer’s and dementia\, as well as children and the general public.

DESCRIPTION:Program Description:  \nIn this course\, participants will explore a variety of mixed-media approaches to art! Mixed media can unlock a variety of textures\, styles\, and imaginative avenues. We will discuss the combination of materials that complement one another and how to achieve successful compositions through a range of media. We will learn from artists who have mixed-media practices\, as well as create compositions of our own. Students will have the opportunity to work from reference imagery as well more abstractly. Originally from Bucks County\, Pennsylvania\, she now lives and works in Arlington\, Virginia. Mueller holds a BFA in Painting and a BA in Psychology from Boston University and an MFA in Visual Arts from American University. She has exhibited across the East Coast at venues including the University of Mary Washington\, Adah Rose Gallery\, the Peale Museum\, and Chautauqua Institution. In 2023 she received the Bethesda Painting Young Artist Award\, and she was a 2025 Sondheim Art Prize semifinalist. She is currently an artist-in-residence at MoCA Arlington.

The spring season comes to a close during June with four exquisite performances on the magnificent organs of National City Christian Church. Our June programs include celebrations of Pride and Juneteenth\, feature music by great composers\, and showcase performances by outstanding artists from around the world. \n  \nJune 5: Ukrainian organist Viktor Billa and soprano Yuliia Billa will perform a program that includes organ works by J. S. Bach\, César Franck\, and Louis Vierne as well as pieces for voice and organ by Gustav Mahler\, Gabriel Fauré\, and Klement Slavický. \nJune 12: Our annual Pride Recital will feature Gustav Holst’s The Planets\, transcribed for organ and performed by organist Sol M. Rizzato\, assisted by Carolyn Hoff. \nJune 19: Howard University organ professor Mickey Thomas Terry will perform a special one-hour Juneteenth Concert\, cosponsored by The African Heritage and Cultural Institute. The program will include works of Charles Tournemire\, Noel Da Costa\, Thomas H.
