SUMMARY:Walking Tour with Jane: Logan Circle Neighborhood
DESCRIPTION:Meet:  10am: Meet at the African American Civil War Memorial just outside the U Street Metro station. \nEnd:  Approximately noon: The Old Korean Delegation\, 1500 13th St. NW \nPlease join us for a walking tour of the Logan Circle neighborhood of Washington\, D.C.  These streets and buildings tell the story of our city from the Civil War to the present.  Largely undeveloped until after the war\, Boss Shepard led a campaign of infrastructure development that literally paved the way for the building of the gracious Victorian era homes that surround  the circle and line nearby streets.  As the wealthy owners moved uptown and later to the suburbs\, many middle-class\, African American intellectuals\, artists and entrepreneurs moved to the area\, establishing art galleries\, rooming houses and salons. Following a period of decay and neglect in the mid-twentieth century\, Logan Circle is once again a trendy neighborhood.  Just as we enjoyed the hospitality of the Korean Cultural Center on our Embassy Row Walk\, we will end our tour with a visit to the Old Korean Delegation. \n
