To RSVP to this event\, please click here and scroll to the bottom of the page.  \nThe Workshop: \nJoin us for an afternoon of floral alchemy where we turn our pain into beauty and destroy the taboo around grief to unlock its transformative power. This unique event blends the beauty and joy of creating floral arrangements with a safe\, authentic discussion about grief\, the impact it’s had on our lives\, and the loved ones we honor while building a supportive community. Grief is the one guarantee we all have – we don’t need to go through it alone.  \nI believe that flowers are a powerful force for change\, both in our own personal lives and collectively\, and I want to share this healing practice. There is so much grief in our communities\, but our culture highly stigmatizes any discussion around the topic.  \nMy goal is to create a space where people feel safe enough to share their grief\, talk about their loved ones\, and share what helps them find the strength to keep living. I want to empower people to turn their daunting emotions into something beautiful in real time while building community with those who can relate. I also hope to teach others who do not have this lived experience yet how to better support those in their lives who are grieving.  \nMy little brother recently passed away and creating floral arrangements has been an integral part of my healing. To move my grief up\, out\, and through and into something beautiful is truly a meditation on alchemy. They have helped me grow\, and even to bloom\, during the darkest time of my life. It is my hope with these workshops to cultivate the same deep healing for my community.  \nI believe that understanding grief is the gateway to understanding\, and fully appreciating life\, and I feel called to destroy the taboo around it to help others unlock the transformative power of their grief.  \nRun of Show:  \nA casual\, drop-in conversation about grief paired with a floral bouquet workshop. DESCRIPTION:A Visit to Glenstone (TRANSPORTATION PROVIDED) \nBus Leaving at 11:15am from Iona Senior Services – 4125 Albemarle St. NW  \nPlease join us for a group bus ride and visit to Glenstone\, the private museum and rolling\, art-filled grounds in Potomac\, MD.  It is the project of Emily and Mitchell Rales.  As stated on their website: \n“At the core of the museum is a collection of post-World War II art\, a very personal project driven by the pursuit of iconic works that have changed the way we think about the art of our time.” \nWeather permitting\, we will begin our visit by walking the grounds\, where art meets nature\, visiting works by Jeff Koons\, Richard Serra and Tony Smith among others.  Time permitting\, you may explore the galleries in the beautiful pavilions on your own. \nBecause much of our visit will be walking outside on gravel paths\, good shoes\, a hat and water bottle are recommended. Also\, you may bring a snack\, but picnicking is not allowed.  \nEnd:  We will return to the bus at 2pm and end at Iona at approximately 2:45pm. \n

DESCRIPTION:Meet:  9:30 am\, Iona Tenleytown\, 4125 Albemarle St NW\, to board the bus \nEnd: Approximately\, 12:30\, back at Iona \nPlease join us for a walk and ranger led tour of Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens\, a little oasis of blooming water lilies in Northeast DC.  We have arranged for a bus to transport us to the park and park staff to share the history and biodiversity of this beautiful wetland.  With luck\, the lilies will be in full bloom\, the birds will be singing and the sun will be shining. \nWe will be walking on boardwalks through the park so good shoes are must.  Also\, sunscreen\, hats and bug spray recommended.
