DESCRIPTION:Tour of Glen Echo Park \nMeet:  Friday\, September 25\, 11:30 am at St Albans – 3001 Wisconsin Ave NW \n(Note later time; bus transportation arranged).  \nGlen Echo Park in Maryland has served as a community gathering space since the late 19th Century.  First envisioned as a residential neighborhood and resort along the Potomac by the enterprising Baltzley twins\, it was later the short-lived site of a Chatauqua assembly.  When that failed due to a malaria scare\, the land later became an amusement park\, experienced Civil Rights protests\, and now serves as an Arts and Cultural center.  The park also includes wonderful architecture\, a historic carousel and organ\, and the last home of Clara Barton. \nPlease join us for a visit to the park. Pack a lunch and we can picnic together before enjoying a ranger tour of the Clara Barton House at 1pm. \nEnd time: Approximately 2:15pm  St. Albans \n(We will be walking over uneven surfaces and up some small hills. Good walking shoes\, a hat and a water bottle are recommended.)  \nThis is a joint trip between Around Town DC and St. Alban’s Active Wellness.
