This gentle yoga class is designed for older adults who prefer a slower-paced practice. Students will experience a gradual progression of yoga poses to strengthen and stretch the body and breathing practices to calm the mind. The teacher will tailor the poses to accommodate the needs of different bodies, such as tight hips and hamstrings or cranky knees. All levels are welcome. Please bring your own yoga mat. A towel is recommended as padding for knees. Bara Vaida is a RYT-200 certified yoga teacher. She found yoga 25 years ago as part of a fitness routine and fell in love the way the practice heals the mind and body. Her mission is to empower students to find their own path to health and well-being. Outside of yoga, she is a DC resident and freelance journalist, focusing on health care policy and enjoys spending time with her family and dog.

Explore a fresh approach to drawing portraits by prioritizing the shadows of the face instead of fussing over details right from the start. We’ll start with a general foundation guided by the shadows of the face that we will develop slowly and progressively, saving the essential features of the portrait to the end. The course will open doors to other ways of drawing and equip artists with a more forgiving strategy for portraiture. All backgrounds and experience levels are welcome.
