Meet: 12:15pm – Meet at Potomac Avenue Metro, 700 14th SE, Washington, DC.

Please join us for the annual celebration of the birthday of “The March King”, John Philip Sousa, at his burial place in Congressional Cemetery.  At 12:30pm, the Cemetery will have a ceremony honoring Sousa and at 1pm the Marine Corps band will enter for a 25 minute concert at the gravesite.  Following the concert, there will be a brief tour of the highlights of this fascinating burial ground that holds the remains of many important and notorious Americans including a signer of the Declaration of Independence, a Lincoln assassination conspirator, an FBI Director, Gay rights icons, and our own mayor for life, Marion Barry.

End:  At the Congressional Cemetery gates at 2:15pm
