Crochet for the Community
November 12 @ 3:30 PM - 5:00 PM
when & where
Learn the basics of crochet with a simple beanie while also providing a source of warmth and comfort to vulnerable community members! As the weather cools, staying warm is front of mind for everyone. Crochet is not only a relaxing hobby for cold fall and winter days, but has also been shown to support cognitive health as we age.
No prior knowledge is required! We will teach you the basics, provide supplies, and guide you through the process of making your first crochet project. Completed hats will be donated to So Others Might Eat (SOME), a DC nonprofit providing material aid to vulnerable community members.

Meet Your Instructor
This class will be taught by Iris Lin, an intern at Iona Senior Services and undergraduate student at UC Irvine studying public health. She learned to crochet as a way to destress after a long day of studying and loves to share her love of crochet with others. Outside of school and crochet, Iris enjoys spending time with family, baking, and is currently also learning to knit.
