Around Town DC and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services will host a free “Getting Started with Medicare” educational webinar on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at 11:00 AM. This session will provide clear, practical information about how Medicare works, important enrollment periods, and the coverage choices available to beneficiaries and their families.

Who should attend:
DC residents age 60 and older who participate in Around Town DC programs or are interested in learning more about aging well; active older adults exploring wellness, social, or educational opportunities; caregivers supporting aging family members; and anyone who wants clear, practical information about Medicare as part of planning for their health and independence.

What will be covered:

  • The four parts of Medicare (A, B, C, and D)
  • Enrollment periods and key deadlines
  • Original Medicare vs. Medicare Advantage
  • Medicare Supplement (Medigap) policies
  • Prescription drug coverage (Part D)
  • 2026 premiums and cost basics
  • Programs that help with Medicare costs, including Extra Help and Medicare Savings Programs
