Music at Midday presents concerts each Friday that last 45 minutes or less. The spring season comes to a close during June with four exquisite performances on the magnificent organs of National City Christian Church. Our June programs include celebrations of Pride and Juneteenth, feature music by great composers, and showcase performances by outstanding artists from around the world.
June 5: Ukrainian organist Viktor Billa and soprano Yuliia Billa will perform a program that includes organ works by J. S. Bach, César Franck, and Louis Vierne as well as pieces for voice and organ by Gustav Mahler, Gabriel Fauré, and Klement Slavický.
June 12: Our annual Pride Recital will feature Gustav Holst’s The Planets, transcribed for organ and performed by organist Sol M. Rizzato, assisted by Carolyn Hoff.
June 19: Howard University organ professor Mickey Thomas Terry will perform a special one-hour Juneteenth Concert, cosponsored by The African Heritage and Cultural Institute. The program will include works of Charles Tournemire, Noel Da Costa, Thomas H. Kerr, Johann Sebastian Bach, and Franz Liszt.
June 26: The spring season of Music at Midday concludes with a performance by Austrian organist Stefan Donner. The program will include music by Johann Sebastian Bach, Robert Schumann, Felix Mendelssohn, Pjotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, and Marcel Dupré.
