Storytelling Workshop: Four Ways to Tell a Story
September 3 @ 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM
when & where
Facilitated by Topher Bellavia
Every good story works the same way—whether it reaches you as a film, a song, a sitcom script, or a memory you’ve never said out loud. Over four weeks, we’ll open four doors into the craft of storytelling, and by the last one, you’ll have a story of your own. Attend all four, or drop in for the weeks that most interest you.
Week 1 (9/3) — Watch. We’ll watch the opening scenes of a few classic films — like Psycho — then talk about what made us want to keep watching.
Week 2 (9/10) — Listen. We’ll choose a song connected to a person, place, moment, or memory. We’ll play it and find the story inside it.
Week 3 (9/17) — Read. We’ll read a scene aloud together from a Golden Girls script and explore why it works.
Week 4 (9/24) — Tell. You’ll be guided through writing a short piece from your own life—to keep or to share. After all, there’s no better story than your own.
