The principles of Tai Chi Chuan address balance and equanimity in the body through movement. Edward Pratt focuses more on the aspects of balance and feeling of movements to address the concerns of falling by older adults. Tai Chi is great for all ages and is ideal for those who are wheelchair bound and those who can still stand; both can be taught together. Edward uses Tai Chi principles to teach body structural alignments, and to promote Mind Body integration. This class helps with relaxation, balance, improved strength, confidence and overall well being.
Edward Pratt is a Tai Chi Chuan and Martial Arts Coach. He has a little over 30 years of Martial Arts experience and about 15 years of experience in Tai Chi Chuan. Edward is compassionate about teaching integration of the Tai Chi movements for Health and Wellness.
Edward studied Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan; “108”, “37” and “24” posture movements; Wu Style Tai Chi “Short form” and Chen Style Tai Chi “18” posture movements. Edward also studies Qigong and Hung Fut Kung fu. He was a Grand Champion in Kung fu competition and a Champion in Full contact fighting. A well-rounded athlete; Edward competed in Track and Field, as well as Soccer from high school to the collegiate level. He plays most sports recreationally.
Edward believes the principles of Tai Chi Chuan should be used and applied in our daily activities as best we can. He believes Tai Chi complements all lifestyles, disciplines and sports. Edward knows Tai Chi compliments other styles of Martial arts and augments power and balance. His approach in teaching is ideal for all ages. Edward works with his students to take them to the next level. He encourages everyone to try Tai Chi, at least take one class with him!
Participate in the exercise programs at your own risk and remember to consult with your doctor before starting a new fitness program.
Once you have registered for one class, you will be enrolled in that class each week. You do need to register for other classes other days.

This release shall include any claims, demands, injuries, damages, or actions arising out of or connected with my use of Iona’s services and facilities, both on and off Iona’s premises, and from all acts of ordinary negligence on the part of Iona.
I recognize that the Program may include travel by public or private transit, private touring companies, walking, and other moderate physical activity. By agreeing to participate in the Program, I assert that I have willingly and knowingly accepted the risks inherent in such travel and activities, including bodily injury and property damage. I also assert that I have no physical condition, ailment, or limitation that would prevent me from participating in the Program in a safe manner. Finally, I assert that I have accident/health insurance coverage that will apply in the event of injury as a result of my participation in the Program.
